The Uttlesford Ramblers

Making a walk a pleasure

Walks programme

Our walking programme is published twice a year in March and September. It can be downloaded from the Group Walks finder on the Ramblers website here

The group usually walks twice a week with Saturday walks of around 10 miles which include a stop at a pub for lunch, where food can often be ordered before the start. Mid-week half day morning walks of about 5 miles will also finish near a pub for lunch. Walks are at a moderate pace of about 2.5 miles per hour. There is usually a mid-morning break for a drink or snack.

Well behaved dogs are permitted, subject to the specific approval of the walk leader. Please note that not all pubs permit dogs in their eating area.

Most walks are in the surrounding countryside of North West Essex and East Herts, but some can be further afield. Walk leaders will have surveyed the route, which will be predominately on listed footpaths and bridleways.

We may also share walks with other local walking groups.

Walking farther afield

Walking breaks away for three days are also arranged about twice a year in spring and autumn. Members may be asked to arrange their own accomodation or this may be at an HF property.  For walking breaks farther away eg the Lake District breaks can be up to a week. More recently there have also been holidays abroad to Menorca and Majorca. Details of past walks and holidays are in the 6 monthly newsletter.
